Overall, the best bit about Oak House is the vibe here. Rooms were stone cold, tiny, barely big enough to do any work. You are also supplied with two coat hooks on the back of your door and two on a free wall! You then have a small communal area with two small tables, which are your dinner tables, and 8 cushioned chairs and another cabinet. Oak House is located in the Fallowfield Campus and is made up of 5 different courts - Maple, Sycamore, Beech, Chestnut and Holly (in descending order of size). Whitworth Park is a stones throw from the Students Union, as well as tonnes of other amenities. If you are friends with your flat it will be fun but if youre not, its quite hard to meet other people. The kitchen is practical and the showers are decent. Laundry services cost extra and there is nothing provided in the kitchens. The rooms are small and are a horrible colour of green with green and orange tartan curtains. Living in halls is an incredible experience, so enjoy it. The walls are mostly just painted breeze blocks in an (un)lovely pale green.but cos the halls are old there is no problem with you sticking up posters, photos fliers and all the rest and just generally making more mess than in newer, posher halls, which is great! The epitomy of cheap and cheerful; but it's so sociable and because it's so run down no one cares if you put posters up or make a mess! Wanted Richmond Park with the dank en-suites originally and was disappointed with oak house but once you're here you realise richmond is over priced and s*** in comparison, Best experience on campus, it's really not worth paying for an ensuite, oak house have the best flat parties. Included in your licence fee is a silver gym membership at the Armitage Sports Centre for semester one.

I definitely recommend going self-catered in your first year as not only do you get eased into the cooking/generally looking after yourself bit, living with flatmates also has much more of a 'family' feel. Oak House Hall Exec Team is led by students who are residents in Oak House. I would recommend it to anyone (maybe except if your not into going out a lot). A completely adequate experience nonetheless. Oak House also has its own Bar (Squirrels, with which, if you live here you will become very acquainted with). Coming from the small city of Cambridge, I found it amazing to be able to meet people from all over the world.

The rooms are small but the location is great due to the large volume of students that live close by. In Unsworth Park you share a flat withtenpeople including yourself, and in my case there wasfivegirls andfiveboys which meant we had a great opportunity to get to know new people and friends that Ill hopefully have for life. Most of my friends from Richmond dont even know theyre next door neighbours because there are so many flats in each block. Halls of residence within thecity campus are: Victoria Park is situated betweenthe city and Fallowfield residential areas, so halls here are ideally placed for both academic and social activities. In catered halls, meals are served in communal dining halls for you to enjoy with fellow residents.
